RT Ponting aggregates 1000 runs in six calendar years and emulates SC Ganguly of India

RT Ponting’s aggregate of 1198 runs in 2009 represent the sixth occasion of his totaling 1000 runs in a calendar year. The previous five occasions are – 1166 in 1998, 1038 in 1999, 1154 in 2003, 1191 in 2005 and 1424 in 2007.

RT Ponting emulated SC Ganguly of India who also had an aggregate of 1000 runs in six calendar years. SR Tendulkar with 1000 runs in seven calendar years holds the record for 1000 runs in most calendar year in the history of one day internationals
