It was the 19th hundred by GC Smith as a South African captain, With 19 hundreds to his credit, GC Smith shares the record for most hundreds by a captain in the annals of test cricket with RT Ponting of Australia who also has scored 19 hundreds.

GC Smith completed 7000 runs of his test career when he was on 88 during his knock of 132 in this test, At the end of his innings he has an aggregate of 7044 runs. He became the 37th batsman in the annals of test cricket to total 7000 plus runs. GC Smith is the third South African batsman to aggregate 7000 runs after JH Kallis (10956} and G Kirsten {7289}

GC Smith’s 132 in this test represent his 21st test hundred as an opening batsman and only SM Gavaskar {33}, ML Hayden {30} and G Boycott {22} have scored more hundreds than GC Smith as openers in the annals of test cricket.

MV Boucher was dismissed run out for 17 in this test providing the 15th occasion of South African wicket keeper dismissed run out in a test innings. MV Boucher is the first South African wicket keeper to be dismissed run out in a test innings against West Indies

SJ Benn and S Shillingford conceded 124 and 193 runs respectively in this innings providing the 25th and 26th occasion of West Indian bowlers conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against South Africa.

S Chanderpaul celebrated the land mark of his 125th test by scoring 166 in this game, which was his 22nd hundred. He also aggregated 1000 boundary fours and 25 boundary sixes of his one day career. His lone six of the match gave him 25 boundary sixes and the ninth four in his knock gave him 1000 boundary fours. He became the 15th batsman in the annals of test cricket to aggregate 1000 plus boundary fours. He is the third West Indian batsman to earn the distinction of scoring 1000 boundary fours. Others are – BC Lara {1551} and IVA Richards {1051}

S Chanderpaul with his 22 hundreds became the 23rd batsman in the annals of test cricket to score 22 or more hundreds. He is the fourth West Indian batsman to earn this distinction. Others are BC Lara {35}, GS Sobers {26} and IVA Richards {24}.

BP Nash scored his hundred of his test career when he made 114 in this test. His other hundred was 109 against England at Port of Spain in Mar 2009. Thus his 114 in this test represents his highest individual innings

BP Nash was dismissed run out for 114 in this test providing the 99th occasion of a batsman run out after scoring a hundred in the annals of test cricket. His run out dismissal for 114 in this test provides the 15th occasion of a West Indian batsman dismissed in such a manner. He is the second West Indian batsman to be dismissed in such a manner against South Africa, the other being S Chanderpaul for 127 at St John’s in Apr 2005. Apart from these two batsmen, two others – Len Hutton of England {100 at Leeds in Jul 1947} and M Azharuddin {115 at Cape Town in Jan 1997} – have been dismissed run out with a hundred to their credit against South Africa in a test innings.

S Chanderpaul and BP Nash added 220 runs for the fourth wicket in this test providing the 19th occasion of a three figure partnership by West Indian batsmen against South Africa. This stand also represents the ninth occasion of a three figure partnership for the fourth wicket by West Indian batsmen against West Indies. It is interesting to note that SC Chanderpaul is one of the partners in seven partnerships out of these nine partnerships

S Chanderpaul and BP Nash added 220 runs for the fourth wicket in this test providing the third occasion of a 200 plus runs partnership by West Indian batsmen against South Africa. The other two partnerships are – 331 for the second wicket between CH Gayle and RR Sarwan at St John’s in Apr 2005 and 284 runs for the fourth wicket between S Chanderpaul and WW Hinds at Georgetown in Mar 2005.

SC Chanderpaul and DJ Bravo added 100 runs for the fifth wicket in this test providing the 20th occasion of a three figure partnership by West Indian batsmen against South Africa. This stand represents the third three figure stand for the fifth wicket by West Indies batsmen against South Africa. DW Steyn {105}, M Morkel {116} and PL Harris {165} conceded 100 plus runs in this test providing the 11th, 12th and 13th occasion of a South African bowler conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against West Indies.

It is the second occasion of three or more South African bowlers conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against West Indies in a test innings, the first occasion being at St John’s in Apr 2005 when SM Pollock {111}, M Ntini {106}, M Zondeki {120} and GC Smith {145} conceded 100 plus runs.

PL Harris returned with figures of 62.0-9-165-2 in this game providing the most expensive bowling figures in terms of runs conceded by a South African bowler against West Indies in a test innings. The previous expensive bowling figures was credited to GS Smith who had figures of 43.0-3-145-2 at St John’s in Apr 2005

PL Harris bowled 62 overs in this test providing the 21st occasion of a South African bowler bowling 360 balls in a test innings. He also earned the distinction of becoming the first South African bowler to bowl 62 overs in a test innings against West Indies.

MV Boucher effected 500 dismissals when he caught R Rampaul of M Morkel for 31. It was his 478th catch in tests and coupled with 22 stumpings he effected the 500th dismissal. He became the first wicket keeper to effect 500 dismissals in the annals of test cricket.

MV Boucher with 5154 runs with the willow and 500 dismissals behind the stumps became the first wicket keeper to score 5000 runs and effect 500 dismissals in the annals of test cricket.

PL Harris conceded 165 runs in this test providing the seventh occasion of a South African bowler conceding 150 plus runs in a test innings

West Indies totalled 546 in the first innings providing the third occasion of West Indies scoring 500 plus runs in a test innings against South Africa. The other two occaions are – 747 at St John’s in Apr 2005 and 543 for 5 declared at Georgetown in Mar 2005. West India has gained the first innings lead over South Africa on all the three occasions in which it has scored 500 plus runs

At the end of test, JH Kallis has an aggregate of 11083 runs, 264 wickets and 156 catches, which makes him the only all rounder in the annals of test cricket to score 11000 plus runs, capture 250 plus wickets and pouch 150 plus catches
