New Zealand has been dismissed for less than 100 runs on only one occasion against India. 81 all out at Hamilton in Feb 1976 is India’s lowest total in a completed innings, while 94 all out at Hamilton in Dec 2002 is New Zealand’s lowest total in a completed innings. India’s 81 at Hamilton in Feb 1976 is also the lowest total in India-New Zealand test series.

India has won two test by an innings margin, eight test by wickets margin and five tests by runs margin. New Zealand has won one test by innings margin, five test by wickets margin and three test by runs margin

As many as twelve Indian batsmen have an aggregate of 500 plus runs against New Zealand while nine New Zealand batsmen have an aggregate of 500 plus runs against India. SR Tendulkar {1406} and R Dravid {1318} are the only two batsmen to have totalled 1000 plus runs.

The three double hundreds are – 239 by GT Dowling at Christchuch in Feb 1968 : 230* by B Sutcliffe at Delhi in Dec 1955 and 201 by JD Ryder at Napier in Mar 2009.

GT Dowling’s 239 at Christchurch in Feb 1968 is also the highest individual score by a batsman in India-New Zealand test series.

The series has witnessed 15 occasions of captains scoring hundreds – eight by Indian captains and seven by New Zealand captains. SR Tendulkar’s 217 at Ahmedabad in Oct 1999 is the highest score by an Indian captain against New Zealand. GT Dowling’s 239 at Christchurch in Feb 1968 is the highest score by a New Zealand captain against India.

No wicket keeper batsman has scored a hundred against New Zealand. FM Engineer’s 90 at Chennai in 1965 is the highest individual score by an Indian wicket keeper batsman against New Zealand. New Zealand wicket keeper batsmen have scored two hundreds against India. 173 by IDS Smith at Auckland in Feb 1990 and 115 by BB McCullum at Napier in Mar 2000. IDS Smith’s 173 is the highest individual score by a New Zealand wicket keeper batsman against India.

Seven Indian batsmen have scored individual nineties against New Zealand. RF Surti is the only batsman to be dismissed on 99 in the series. Five New Zealand batsmen have scored individual nineties against India.

There are 67 occasions of Indian batsmen scoring zeroes against New Zealand and 81 occasions of New Zealand batsmen scoring zeroes against India.

ML Jaisimha at Hyd-LBS in Oct 1969, BS Chandrashekhar at Wellington in Feb 1976, RGM Patel at Mumbai in Nov 1985, VVS Laxman at Wellington in Dec 2002 and Zaheer Khan at Hamilton in Dec 2002 are the five Indian batsmen who have bagged pairs.

JW Guy {91 and zero at Kolkata in Dec 1955} is the only New Zealand batsman to score zero and ninety in a test. Two New Zealand batsmen have earned the distinction of scoring sero and hundred in a test match – BR Taylor {105 and zero not out at Kolkata in Mar 1965} and GT Dowling {129 and zero at Mum-BS in Mar 1965}.
