R Ashwin’s lone wicket on the fourth day fetched him an aggregate of 417 wickets in his test career. He now shares the third place amongst the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets in their test career with Harbhajan Singh. Harbhajan Singh has captured 417 wickets. A Kumble {619} and Kapil Dev {434} occupy the first two places.
R Ashwin is one of the three right arm spin bowlers to capture fifty plus wickets against New Zealand with 56 wickets to his credit. EAS Prasanna {55} and A Kumble {50} are the other two bowlers. KS Williamson was dismissed leg before wicket in New Zealand’s first innings. It was the 20th occasion of his being dismissed leg before wicket in his test career. AR Patel became the fourth bowler in the annals of test cricket to capture his first five wicket hauls in less than seven innings. Australia’s CT Turner and England’s T Richardson have performed the feat in seven innings and R Hogg of Australia’s first five wicket hauls came in six innings.
R Ashwin’s three wickets in New Zealand’s first innings fetched him an aggregate of 416 wickets in his test career. He needs two more wickets to overhaul Harbhajan Singh’s tally of 417 wickets and to occupy the third place in the list of Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets. A Kumble {619} and Kapil Dev {434} occupy the first two places.
R Ashwin’s three wickets in New Zealand’s first innings fetched him an aggregate of 55 wickets in his test career against New Zealand. He now shares the second place with EAS Prasanna amongst the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets against New Zealand. R Ashwin needs three more wicket to overhaul the tally of BS Bedi’s 57 wickets to become India’s most wicket taker against New Zealand.
KL Jamieson captured his 50th test wicket when he bowled S Gill in India’s second innings. He earned the distinction of becoming the 38th New Zealand bowler to capture 50 plus wickets in tests. His 50 wickets came in his ninth test and 18 innings.
