CA Pujara becomes the third batsman to aggreate 1000 runs in the Calendar year 2017

CA Pujara had an aggregate of 925 runs in 2017 prior to the start of this test and required 75 more runs for his 1000 runs. He scored 143 runs in India’s first innings against Sri Lanka at Nagpur which fetched him an aggregate of 1068 runs. He became the third batsman to to score 1000 plus runs in 2017. D Elgar of South Africa has scored 1097 runs. FDM Karunaratne who had completed 1000 runs in the first innings added 11 more runs in Sri Lanka’s second innings to take his total to 1011. {All figures as at the end of the third day of the test}

V Kohli emulates BC Lara in scoring five double centuries as captain

V Kohli of India scored 213 against Sri Lanka in  the  ongoing test against Sri  Lanka at Nagpur. This knock represents his fifth double century while leading India. He became the second captain in the history of test cricket to score five double centuries after BC Lara of West Indies. BC Lara has also scored five double centuries  while leading West Indies. He went past DG Bradman, MJ Clarke and GC Smith who had scored four double centuries while leading their respective countries.
