Both JD Ryder and BJ Arnel collected the first ball duck in this test to provide the 24th and 25th occasion of New Zealand batsman collecting the first ball duck against Pakistan.

RA Young and DL Vettoi added 138 runs for the seventh wicket in this test providing the 39th occasion of New Zealand batsmen posting a three figure partnership against Pakistan. This stand also represents the fourth occasion of a three figure partnership for the seventh wicket against Pakistan. The other three occasions are – 186 runs between RJ Hadlee and WK Lees at Karachi in Oct 1976 : 101 runs between AC Parore and MS Sinclair at Christchurch in Mar 2001 and 164 runs between BB McCullum and DL Vettori at Durban in Nov 2009.

RA Young scored his maiden half century when he made 57 in this test: LRPL Taylor registered his 19th test half century and 25th fifty with his twin fifties in this test. DL Vettori’s 110 gave him his sixth test hundred and 28th fifty.

Misbah-ul-Haq {99 and 70 not out} in this test provides the second occasion of his scoring twin fifties as a Pakistan captain. The other occasion was against South Africa at Abu Dhabi in Nov 2010.

Misbah-ul-Haq became the third Pakistan captain to score twin fifties on two or more occasions, Others are – Inzamam-ul-Haq {05} and Mushtaq Ahmed {02}

Taufeeq Umar scored 70 and zero in this test to provide the 13th occasion of a Pakistan opening batsman scoring a fifty and zero in a test. Taufeeq Umar is the second Pakistan batsman to perform such a feat against New Zealand. Saeed Anwar is the other Pakistan opening batsman who had scored 69 and zero at Christchurch in Feb 1994.

Taufeeq Umar’s 70 represent his eleventh test half century and 15th fifty. Azhar Ali’s 67 represent his sixth test half century. Younis Khan’s 73 and 81 in this test gave him a total of 23 test half centuries and 40 fifties and Misbah-ul-Haq’s 90 and 70 not out gave him a total of ten test half centuries and 12 fifties.

Taufeeq Umar and Azhar Ali added 132 runs for the second wicket and Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq added 142 runs for the fourth wicket in this test providing the 46th and 47th occasion of Pakistan batsmen posting a three figure partnership against New Zealand.

At the end of this test, DL Vettori has conceded 100 plus runs in an innings on 12 occasions as captain, which is a record for a captain conceding 100 plus runs on most occasions. He wrested the record from A Kumble who has conceded 100 plus runs on eleven occasions while leading India.

MJ Guptill {73} and BB McCullum {64} scored fifties in the second innings of this test to provide the fourth occasion of both the New Zealand opening batsmen scoring fifties in an innings against Pakistan.

MJ Guptil with his 73 in this test registered his sixth test half century and seventh fifty, while BB McCullum with his 64 registered his 19th test half century and 25th fifty.

MJ Guptill and BB McCullum added 120 runs for the first wicket in the second innings of this test providing the 40th occasion of New Zealand batsmen posting a three figure partnership against Pakistan. This stand also represents the sixth occasion of New Zealand batsmen posting a century stand for the first wicket against Pakistan.

Abdur Rehman captured 3 for 119 in this test providing the 36th occasion of a Pakistan bowler conceding 100 plus runs in an innings against New Zealand.
