South African batsmen’s twin half centuries in a test in losing cause

HM Amla scored twin half centuries – 61 and 52 – against India in the just concluded Johannesburg test and South Africa lost the test by 63 runs. HM Amla’s effort provides the 19th occasion of South African batsman’s twin half centuries going in vain. All such occasions are tabulated below. HM Amla became the first South African batsman to witness his twin half centuries going in vain against India.
