RR Pant earns a dubious distinction

RR Pant of India earned a dubious distinction in this test. He faced 29 deliveries and scored a duck in India’s innings against England in the ongoing test at Southampton. He earned the distinction of becoming the wicketkeeper-batsman to face most deliveries without scoring in the annals of test cricket. The previous record in this category of statistics was credited to JC Buttler of England who had faced 22 deliveries without scoring against West Indies at North Sound in Apr 2015.  JC Buttler is keeping wickets for England in this test. V Kohli of India completed 6000 runs in tests when he was on 6 during the course of his knock of 46 against England in the ongoing test at Southhampton. I Sharma captured his  250th wicket in tests when he had England captain JE Root leg before the wicket for 4 in England’s first innings in the ongoing test against India at Southampton. I Sharma became the second Indian pace bowler to capture 50 wickets against England. N Kapil Dev is the other pace bowler to achieve the feat. He has captured 85 wickets against England. I Sharma has captured  51 wickets against England at  the end of  the first day’s play

I Sharma has captured 38 wickets against England in England at  the end of  the first day’s play.  He occupies the second place in the list of Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets against England in England. N Kapil Dev with 43 wickets to his credit occupies the first place. I Sharma went past A Kumble who had taken 36 wickets against England in England to occupy the second place. 

R Ashwin had an aggregate of 99 wickets on away soil prior to the start of this test. He captured his 100th wicket on away soil, when he had Moeen Ali caught by Bumrah for 40 on the first day of the test at Southampton against England. He became the ninth Indian bowler to capture 100 plus wickets on away soil. Raju Bhatkal scored 59 in this game to provide  the 201st occasion  of a batsman scoring a fifty in KPL. It also provides the 24th occasion of a Mysuru Warriors batsman scoring a fifty in KPL. It also provides the 47th occasion of an opening batsman batting at number two scoring a fifty in KPL.
