AB de Villiers has played 99 tests prior to the start of the test. Second test at Bangalore was be his 100th test. He became the 63rd cricketer to play 100 plus tests in the annals of test cricket. He would also become the seventh South African cricketer to play 100 plus tests. Others are JH Kallis {165}, MV Boucher {146}, GC Smith {116}, SM Pollock {108}, G Kirsten {101} and M Ntini {101}

AB de Villers became the second cricketer to play his 100th test at Bangalore after Inzamam-ul-Huq of Paksitan.  Inzamam-ul-Huq scored 184 in his 100th test against India in Mar 2005.

India won the toss and elected to field first in this test provide the 57th occasion of India doing so. It also provides the 13th occasion of India inserting the opposition in a test at home.

F du Plessis scored a duck in the first innings of this test to provide his second duck against India in India. The other occasion was in the first innings at Mohali, the first test of this series. He became the third South African batsman to score a duck against India in India on two occasions. Others are HM Amla and M Ntini.

AB de Villers had scored 944 runs against India prior to the start of this test. He reached the milestone of completing 1000 runs against India when he was on 56 during his knock of 85 in this test. At the end of South Africa’s first innings, his run aggregate read 1039. He became the third South African batsman to total 1000 plus runs against India. Others are – JH Kallis {1734} and HM Amla {1257}

AB de Villiers scored 85 runs in the first innings of this test which was his 38th half century. He now shares the second place with GC Smith for the most half centuries by a South African batsman. GC Smith has also scored 38 half centuries. JH Kallis with 58 half centuries holds the record for most half centuries by a South African batsman.

DA Elgar scored a boundary six in his innings of 38 in the first innings of this test to provide the 121st occasion of a batsman scoring a boundary six in a test at Bangalore. He also became the fourth South African batsman to score a boundary six in a test at Bangalore. His boundary six in this test provides the fifth occasion of a South African batsman scoring a boundary six at Bangalore. Others are – JH Kallis {02}, DJ Cullinan {01} and L Klusener {01}.

As many as 1321 boundary sixes have been scored by batsmen of various teams against India which includes DA Elgar’s six in South Africa’s innings in this test.

K Rabada scored a duck in the first innings of this test to provide the 55th occasion of a South African batsman scoring a duck in an innings against India. It also provides the 25th occasion of a South African batsman scoring a duck in an innings against India in India.

RMH Binny and STR Binny became the first pair of father and son to represent India in a Bangalore test. RMH Binny has played three tests and Bangalore. He has a unique distinction of making his debut appearance and also his farewell appearance at Bangalore.

KA Abbot was dismissed run out for 14 in this game to provide the 18th occasion of a South African batsman dismissed run out against India. He also became the 14th South African batsman to be dismissed run out in a test innings against India.

AB de Villers scored eleven boundary fours in his knock of 85 runs in the first innings of this test to take his aggregate of boundary fours to 109 against India. He became the fourth South African batsman to score 100 plus boundary fours against India. Others are – JH Kallis {173}, HM Amla {149} and GC Smith {142}

AB de Villers scored 85 in the first innings of this test provide the 98th occasion of a South African batsman scoring a fifty against India. It also provides the 36th occasion of a South African batsman scoring a fifty against India in India.

CM Gautham of Karnataka became the second wicket keeper from Karnataka to pouch 200 catches in Ranji Trophy. He achieved the milestone in the match against Rajasthan at Jaipur this season. At the end of the game against Odisha he has pouched 205 catches. His eleven stumping dismissals gives him a total of 216 dismissals. He now holds the record for most catches by a Karnataka wicket keeper in Ranji Trophy. He wrested the record from VST Naidu who held the record previously with 203 catches.

CM Gautham needs two more dismissals to wrest the record of most dismissals by a Karnataka Wicket keeper. He has effected 216 dismissals – 205 ct plus 11 st. The present record is in the name of VST Naidu who has a tally of 217 dismissals – 203 ct plus 14 st

Wasim Jaffer became the first batsman to compile Ten thousand runs in Ranji Trophy

Wasim Jaffer became the first batsman in the history of Ranji Trophy to compile 10,000.00 runs. He reached the land mark in the Ranji Trophy match between Vidarbha and Bengal at Kolkata in the recently concluded sixth round of Ranji Trophy 2015-16 season.

He completed 10000 runs when he was on seven during his first innings knock of nine against Bengal. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 10005 runs.

He played 126 Ranji Trophy matches, 197 innings and amassed 10005 runs at an average of 57.50 runs per innings. He has scored 41 half centuries and 35 centuries. His highest score is 314 not out representing Mumbai against Saurashtra in Nov 1996. He made his Ranji Debut representing Mumbai against Gujarat in Oct 1996. His scored 11 runs in the only innings he played on his debut. His highest score of 314 not out was made in his second Ranji Trophy Match.  He quit Mumbai and chose to play for Vidarbha from this season.   His Ranji Trophy career is  furnished below
