V Kohli’s subtle distinctions in Bengaluru Test

Virat Kohli

V Kohli lead India for 25th occasion in Bengaluru test. Other Indian captains who have lead  India on 25 or more occasions are – MS Dhoni {60}, SC Ganguly {49}, M Azharuddin {47}, SM Gavaskar {47}, MAK Pataudi {40}, N Kapil Dev {34}, R Dravid {25} and SR Tendulkar {25}. Thus V Kohli would become the ninth Indian captain to lead in 25 or more tests.

V Kohli had scored 263 boundary fours while leading India prior to the start of the Bengaluru test. He scored two boundary fours in the first innings and one boundary four in the second innings and had a tally of 266 boundary fours at the end of India’s second innings in the Bengaluru test. He went past SR Tendulkar who has scored 264 boundary fours. Other Indian captains to score more boundary fours than V Kohli at the end of India’s second innings of the Bangalore test are – SM Gavaskar {378}, MS Dhoni {368}, M Azharuddin {335}, SC Ganguly {326} and MAK Pataudi {278}
