Karnataka owns the records for playing most matches and winning most matches in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Prior to the start of the finals of Vijay Hazare Trophy of the 2017-18 seasons, Karnataka {72}, Tamil Nadu {71} and Bengal {70} are the three teams which have played 70 plus games in the history of the tournament.  Karnataka owns the record for playing most matches – 72 – achieved the distinction when it played the semifinals of the ongoing season against Maharashtra at Delhi. Karnataka also owns the record for most wins in the tournament. It has won 56 games.

The third T20I between South Africa and India at Cape Town on 24.02.18 became the second T20I in the history of Twenty20 Internationals to witness rival teams batsmen batting at number two and three are left handed batsmen.

In India’s innings, two left handed batsmen – S Dhawan and SK Raina – batted at number two and three.  In South Africa’s innings – DA Miller and JP Duminy – both left handed batsmen batted at number two and three

The only other T20I which has witnessed such an occasion was the T20I between South Africa and Australia at Johannesburg on 16.10.11.  Australia batted first in this game and the batsmen who batted at position number two and three in Australia’s innings are – MS Wade and SE Marsh – both left handed batsmen. In South Africa’s innings – GC Smith and CA Ingram – both left handed batsmen batted at number two and three

JP Duminy scored 55 in the game between South Africa and India at Cape Town on 24.02.18 to provide the 100th occasion of a captain scoring a half century in the history of T20 Internationals.

JP Duminy’s 55 in this game provide the 14th occasion of a South African captain scoring a half century in T20Is. South Africa now owns the record for having captains scoring centuries on most occasions in the history of T20Is. Previous record in this category of statistics was held by Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan captains have scored half centuries in T20Is on 13 occasions

JP Duminy’s 55 in this game  was in a losing cause as South Africa lost the game by seven runs to provide the  seventh occasion of South African captain’s half century in a losing cause. South Africa now shares the record for   most half centuries by a captain in a losing cause with Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka has also witnessed seven occasions of half centuries scored by its captains going in vain.

JP Duminy’s 55 in this game was in a losing cause to provide the 44th occasion of a captain’s half century in T20Is.

S Dhawan was dismissed run out for 47 in this game to provide the 154th occasion of an opening batsman dismissed run out in  the history of T20Is. It also provides the 14th occasion of an Indian opening batsman dismissed run out in a T20I. India and Bangladesh share the second place in this category of statistics – opening batsmen dismissed run out in T20Is. Pakistan owns the record with 17 occasions of its opening batsmen dismissed run out in T20Is

S Dhawan was dismissed run out for 47 in this game to provide the third occasion of his being dismissed run out as an opening batsmen. He shares the record for an Indian opening batsman dismissed run out on most occasions with V Sehwag and G Gambhir.

S Dhawan became the 17th opening batsman in the history of T20Is to be dismissed run out on three or more occasions.

JP Duminy’s 55 in this game was in a losing cause to provide the 26th occasion of a South African batsman’s half century going in vain. South Africa now own the record for losing most games when its batsmen have scored half centuries. England and Sri Lanka share the second place with 24 such occasions.

JP Duminy’s aggregate of boundary sixes read 65 at the end of this game. He now owns the record of scoring most boundary sixes by a South African batsman in T20Is. AB de Villiers occupies the second place with 60 boundary sixes. JP Duminy and AB de Villiers are the only two South African batsmen to score 60 plus boundary sixes.

MS Dhoni has effected 205 dismissals in T20 games became the second wicketkeeper to effect 200 plus dismissals in the history of T20 Internationals.  Kamran Akmal is the other wicket keeper to effect 200 plus dismissals.  He has effected 208 dismissals. MS Dhoni requires four more dismissals to own the record for most dismissals by a wicketkeeper in the history of T20 games. Three more dismissals for him would put him  on par with Kamran Akmal 

Prior to the start of the today’s game, i.e., South Africa and India T20I game at Cape Town, MS Dhoni and KC Sangakkara share the record for most catches in T20 games. Both the wicketkeepers have an aggregate of 135 catches. MS Dhoni needs one more catch to go past KC Sangakkara and own the record for most catches in T20 games.

Prior to the start of the today’s game, i.e., South Africa and India T20I game at Cape Town, MS Dhoni has pouched 49 catches in T20Is. He requires one more catch which would fetch him 50 catches and with it the record of becoming the first wicketkeeper in the history of T20Is to pouch 50 catches.

MA Agarwal of Karnataka has amassed 552 runs in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy to become the sixth batsman to aggregate 500 plus runs in a season of Vijay Hazare Trophy prior to the start of the Semi finals today against Maharashtra today at Delhi.

He needed 48 runs to become the second batsman in the tournament to total 600 plus runs after KD Karthik of Tamil Nadu. KD Karthik has an aggregate of 607 runs in 2016-17 season.  He completed 600 runs when he was on 48 during his knock of 81 today. His run aggregate at the end of this game read 633.

MA Agarwal required 56 more runs to edge past KD Karthik to own the record for most runs in a season of Vijay Hazare Trophy. With 633 runs to his credit he now owns the record for most runs in a season.

MA Agarwal of Karnataka and SP Goswami of Bengal shared the record for most sixes in a season among the batsmen who have aggregated 500 plus runs prior to the start of today’s semifinals  Both the batsmen had scored 14 boundary sixes – SP Goswamy in 2009-10 and MA Agarwal in 2017-18.  MA Agarwal needs one more boundary six to own the record for most sixes by a batsman in a season when a batsman has totalled 500 plus runs, MA Agarwal scored on boundary six in this game which fetched him 15 boundary sixes and now he owns the record for most sixes scored by a batsman who has also totalled 500 plus runs

MA Agarwal hit eight boundary fours in the semifinals to take his aggregate of boundary fours to 73. He became the second batsman to score 70 plus boundary fours amongst the batsman who has an aggregate of 500 plus runs in the tournament. KD Karthik has scored 75 boundary fours and owns the record for most boundary fours scored by a batsman in this category of statistics

He became the 36th batsman to aggregate 100 plus boundary fours in the history of Twenty20 Internationals. He also became the fifth Indian batsman to score 100 boundary fours in T20Is.
