SR Tendulkar prior to the start of the series has an aggregate of 2730 runs against Australia. He requires 20 more runs to go past his aggregate of 2749 runs against Sri Lanka which is the highest aggregate he has as of today against a specific opponent.

Prior to the start of this series, RT Ponting has 98 fifties to his credit. Two more fifties by him would give him 100 fifties and with it a record of becoming the second batsman in the world to score 100 plus fifties. SR Tendulkar has 135 fifties prior to the start of the series.

Prior to the start of the series. RT Ponting has played 324 one day games. His appearance in the first one day game of the series would give him 325 one day appearances which would put him on par with SR Waugh who also has 325 appearances. {RT Ponting’s 324 appearances prior to the start of the game include one appearance for ICC Eleven}

RT Ponitng’s appearance in second one day game of the series would give him 326 appearances which would make him the most capped Australian cricketer in one day games.

Australia has named J Holland as the uncapped cricketer in its squad. If he makes his one day debut in the ensuring series he would become the 179th cricketer to represent Australia in one day games.

India has named Sudeep Tyagi as the uncapped cricketer in its squad. If he makes his one day debut in the ensuring series he would become the 179th cricketer to represent India in one day games.

By a strange statistical coincidence both Australia and India have capped the same number of cricketers in one day games – 178 – prior to the start of the series
