He would earn the distinction of becoming the first Australian bowler to capture fifty plus wickets against India.
B Lee would become the second Australian bowler to capture 50 plus wickets against three or more specific oppositions, after GD McGrath. B Lee has an aggregate of 53 wickets against England and 51 wickets against New Zealand and needs one more wicket for his 50 wickets against India. GD McGrath has an aggregate of 50 plus wickets against four specific oppositions – 59 against New Zealand, 58 against South Africa, 57 against Pakistan and 53 against England.
B Lee, if he gets one wicket against India, would become the fifth bowler to capture 50 plus wickets against three or more specific oppositions. The other four are GD McGrath of Australia {against four oppositions}, Waqar Younis of Pakistan {against four oppositions}, M Muralitharan of Sri Lanka {against five oppositions} and Wasim Akram of Pakistan {against five oppositions}
RT Ponting and A Symonds share the Australian record for most sixes against India. Both the batsman have hit 27 sixes. One more six for RT Ponting would give him 28 sixes against India and with it the record for most sixes against India.
Yuvraj Singh and Kapil Dev have scored 11 sixes against Australia. One more six by Yuvraj Singh would give him 12 sixes and with it the second place amongst the Indian batsmen who have hit most sixes against Australia. SR Tendulkar has to his credit 31 sixes against Australia.
R Dravid has hit 82 boundary fours against Australia. SC Ganguly and K Srikkanth have 83 boundary fours to their credit. Two more boundary fours for R Dravid would give him 84 boundary fours against Australia and with it the second place amongst the Indian batsmen who have hit most boundary fours against Australia. SR Tendulkar has to his credit 289 boundary fours against Australia.
SR Tendulkar has to his credit 39 not outs in his one day career. He needs two more not outs to surpass R Dravid’s 40 not outs and if he gets there he would be the third Indian batsman who have most not outs in their one day career. The other two are M Azharudding {54} and A Kumble {47}. One more not out for SR Tendulkar would place him in the joint third place with R Dravid who has 40 not outs to his credit.
A double Nelson – 222 runs – would give RT Ponting 2000 runs against India. Prior to the start of the series he has an aggregate of 1778 runs against India. If he gets 2000 plus runs against India, RT Ponting would become the fourth batsman in the world to aggregate 2000 plus runs against India. The other three are – ST Jayasuriya of Sri Lanka {2848}, Inzamam-ul-Huq of Pakistan {2403} and Saeed Anwar of Pakistan {2002}.
If RT Ponting gets 2000 runs against India, he would become the first Australian batsman and also first non-Asian batsman to aggregate 2000 plus runs against India.

SR Tendulkar’s 30 catches against Australia would make him the second Indian fieldsman to pouch 30 plus catches against a specific opposition after M Azharuddin who has pouched 44 catches against Pakistan which represent the world record for most catches against a specific opposition.
