1000 runs in a calendar year : MEK Hussey latest entrant into Aussie list

MEK Hussey joined the select band of Australian batsmen who have aggregated 1000 runs in a calendar year. He reached the milestone when he was on 21 during the course of his knock of 81 not out in the third one day game against India at Delhi on 31.10.09. At the end of this game, his run aggregate stood at 1060. He is the second batsman after RT Ponting {1076} to reach the milestone in 2009. Ponting had achieved the feat at Nagpur on 28.10.09.

Infact, Hussey is the third batsman to reach the milestone of 1000 runs in 2009, as H Masakadza of Zimbabwe has also aggregated 1064 runs in the third one day game between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at Mirpur on 31.01.09

Hussey’s fear provides the 15th occasion of an Australian batsman reaching the milestone of 1000 plus runs in a calendar year. The following table enlists all the 15 occasions.
