V Kohli’a 103 in the recently concluded Galle test between Sri Lanka and India was in a losing cause to provide the 12th occasion of an Indian captain’s hundred going in vain. All such occasions are listed below

Mohd Azharuddin and V Kohli are the two Indian captains to witness their three hundreds going in vain.  Mohd Azharuddin lost three tests when he scored three hundreds, while V Kohli lost two tests when he scored three hundreds. His twin hundreds – 115 and 141 – against Australia at Adeaide in Dec 2014 were in vain
