Indian Premier League – Five or more fifties by batsmen in each edition of IPL

IPL 2016 Edition was a bonanza for batsmen. The edition witnessed as many as eight batsmen scoring five or more fifties – a record for any edition of IPL. IPL 2012 edition had witnessed six batsmen scoring fifties.

V Kohli of Royal Challengers Bangalore stole the limelight by eleven fifties which is again a record for most fifties by a batsman in any edition of IPL.  His aggregate of 973 runs is also a record for most runs in an edition of IPL. The following table lists all the batsmen who have accomplished the feat edition wise

DA Warner aggregated 848 runs in IPL 2016 to become the third batsman in the history of IPL to total 500 plus runs in three separate editions of IPL. The other two editions in which he has totaled 500 plus runs are – 2014 {528} and 2015 {562}. DA Warner became the third batsman to score five or more fifties in three editions of IPL – 2014 {06}, 2015 {07} and 2016 {09}. The other two batsmen to achieve such a feat are – CH Gayle and G Gambhir

DA Warner’s feat of aggregating 500 plus runs coupled with scoring five ore more fifties in 2014. 2015 and 2016 makes him the second batsman to accomplish the captioned feats in three consecutive calendar years after CH Gayle. CH Gayle had performed the feat in 2011. 2012 and 2013
