FDM Karunaratne became the second Sri Lankan batsman to suffer from such an ignominy after ST Jayasuriya. It is interesting to note that ST Jayasuriya was also dismissed by the first ball of the test against Australia by GD McGrath in 1999. Both ST Jayasuriya and FDM Karunaratne were dismissed in a test at Galle is yet another coincidence

SM Gavaskar of India and Hannan Sarkar of Bangladesh are the two batsmen to be dismissed by the first ball of the test on three occasions. The following table lists the performance of these two batsmen.

GG Arnold, N Kapil Dev and RJ Hadlee are the two bowlers who have dismissed the batsmen by the first ball of the test on two occasions. PT Collins of West Indies is the only bowler in the list to have dismissed a batsman by the first ball of the test on three occasions.
What is interesting in PT Collin’s case is that the batsman dismissed by the first ball of the test is Hannan Sarkar of Bangladesh on all the three occasions.
