Six plus wickets by bowlers in each innings of a test – Bengaluru test provides the third such instance in the annals of test cricket and after 115 years and two months

The just concluded Bengaluru test between India and Australia witnessed a rare instance. In each of the four innings of a test – there was a bowler capturing six or more wickets in an innings. This instance provides the  third such instance in the annals of test cricket. The first such occasion was witnessed in the test between England and Australia at The Oval in  Aug 1896 and the second such occasion was witnessed in the test between Australia and England at The  Oval in Jan 1902. The third such occasion occurred in the just concluded test between India and Australia at Bengaluru in Mar 2017. The interval between the second instance and third instance is 115 years and two months.  It is also observed that in all the three instances Australia is one of the teams.
