R Ashwin’s world record – holds the record for most wickets in the annals of test cricket by a spin bowler who has opened the bowling

R Ashwin  of India now holds the world record for most wickets by a spin bowler who opened the bowling in the annals of test cricket. His  lonely wicket in Australia’s second innings – that of GJ Maxwell caught by Vijay for 02 was his 94th wicket when he has shared the new ball as a spin bowler. He went past H Trumble of Australia who had captured 93 wickets as a spin bowler while sharing the  new ball. The following table list the four bowlers – R Ashwin, H Trumble, R Peel and HMRKB Herath – who have an aggregate of 75 plus wickets under this category of statistics
