The date 23rd April has a special chemistry bond to Indian Premier League and Royal Challengers Bangalore. On 23.04.2013, Royal Challengers Bangalore registered the highest ever team total in the history of Indian Premier League. It posted 263 for 5 against Pune Warriors at Bangalore. Four years later –  on 23.04.17, Royal Challengers Bangalore was dismissed for  49 in 9.4 overs by Kolkata at Kolkata on 23.04.17 – the lowest ever total in the  history of  Indian Premier League.

 

Kolkata and Bangalore were dismissed all out in the game between Kolkata and Bangalore at Kolkata on 23.04.17 to provide the second occasion of both the teams dismissed all out in the same game. The first such occasion was at Nagpur between Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers on 05.04.10. Rajasthan was dismissed all out for 159 and Deccan Chargeres was dismissed all out for 157 in its innings. It was a rare coincidence that both Rajasthan Royals and Deccan Chargers batted for 19.5 overs in their respective innings.

Bangalore’s 49 provides the first occasion of a team dismissed all out for a total less than 50 in the Indian Premier League.

 

It is another coincidence that in the above two occasions – Bangalore is involved.  Bangalore dismissed Rajasthan all out for 58 at Cape Town on 18.04.09 and Kolkata dismissed Bangalore for 49 at Kolkata on 23.04.17
