England batsmen script a new fifth wicket record partnership against Australia in Australia
England batsmen posted a record fifth wicket partnership in the Ashes series obliterating the 114 year old record. DJ Malan and JM Bairstow of England who had added 174 runs in an unfinished partnership for the fifth wicket against Australia in the ongoing test at Perth on the first day of the test added 63 more runs to their overnight partnership of 174 runs on the second day and England lost its fifth wicket at 237. This partnership represent not only England’s first ever 200 plus runs partnership for the fifth wicket against Australia in Australia but also represent the record partnership for the fifth wicket against Australia in Australia. The previous best stand was the 192 runs partnership between R Foster and LC Braund at Sydney in Dec 1903. It is interesting to note that England has posted these three partnerships against Australia in Australia.
