Bangladesh vs India Test Series : SR Tendulkar aggregates 1700 boundary fours
SR Tendulkar added one more feather to his cap during his innings of 76 not out at the end of the first day’s play against Bangladesh at Chittagong on 17.01.10. He aggregated 1700 boundary fours to become the only batsman in the annals of test cricket to aggregate 1700 boundary fours. He reached the milestone when he hit Shakib Al Hasan for a boundary four, which was his sixth four of his innings. He collected the ball from outside the off stump and hit against the turn with a slog sweep over midwicket for four.
The following are the batsmen who have hit more than 1000 boundary fours in their test career. It should be noted that SR Tendulkar’s 1700 boundary fours, IVA Richards’s 1051 boundary fours and SM Gavaskar’s 1016 boundary fours have a suffix {+} denoting that the figures are as per available records.
