Indian Premier League 2010 : JH Kallis completes 1000 IPL runs
JH Kallis of Bangalore added one more feather to his surfeit of IPL records by aggregating 1000 runs in IPL. He had an aggregate of 985 runs prior to the start of the game against Hyderabad at Bangalore on 08.04.10. He reached the milestone when he was on 15 during the course of his knock of 68 runs in the game against Hyderabad. At the end of the game he had an aggregate of 1053 IPL runs
He became the fifth batsman in IPL to aggregate 1000 runs. Others are AC Gilchrist of Hyderabad {1175}, SK Raina of Chennai {1125}, ML Hayden of Chennai {1057} and RG Sharma of Hyderabad {1030}. JH Kallis with his 1053 runs stands fourth amongst the five batsmen who have an aggregate of 1000 plus IPL runs
With JH Kallis completing 1000 runs in this game {1053}, IPL witnessed for the first occasion of rival batsmen with 1000 plus runs in a game. Hyderabad had two batsmen – AC Gilchrist {1175} and RG Sharma {1030} – who had an aggregate of 1000 plus runs.
IPL had already witnessed three games in which two batsmen from the same team had an aggregate of 1000 plus runs. In the game between Chennai and Bangalore at Chennai on 31.03.10, Chennai and Jaipur at Chennai on 03.04.10, ML Hayden and SK Raina had an aggregate of 1000 plus IPL runs and in the game between Hyderabad and Jaipur at Nagpur on 05.04.10, Hyderabad batsmen AC Gilchirst and RG Sharma had an aggregate of 1000 plus IPL runs
JH Kallis’s other IPL records are – he owns the record for most fifties in IPL {ten fifties}, he has scored most fifties in the third edition of IPL – six fifties and also owns the dubious record of witnessing most fifties in a losing cause – six fifties

JH Kallis’s six half centuries listed above is an all time record for most half centuries in a single edition of IPL as no other batsman has achieved such a feat in a single edition of IPL. The other batsmen who have scored five half centuries in an edition of IPL are – SE Marsh of Mohali in 2008 edition, G Gambhir of Delhi in 2008 edition, JP Duminy of Mumbai in 2009 edition and ML Hayden of Chennai in 2009 edition
In terms of most fifties in IPL, JH Kallis with his six fities shares the record with SE Marsh of Mohali who had scored six fifties in 2008 edition {One hundred and five half centuries}.

JH Kallis’s 1053 runs have come from 36 matches, 36 innings of which six were not outs. His highest score is 89 not out against Mohali at Bangalore on 16.03.10.
