ICC WT20 : Match Number 6 : Australia vs Pakistan : Some unique features
The sixth match of the ongoing ICC WT20 game between Australia and Pakistan at Gros Islet on 02.05.10 had some unique features
For the first time in the history of Twenty20 Internationals {which includes ICC WT20 matches also} both the teams were dismissed all out. Australia were dismissed for 191 and in reply Pakistan were also dismissed for 157
Australia lost its last wicket – that of SW Tait – to the last ball of its innings – bowled by Mohammad Aamer {SW Tait was bowled for zero}.
Pakistan also lost its last wicket – that of Saeed Ajmal – to the last ball of its innings – bowled by SW Tait {Saeed Ajmal was bowled for four}
So both the teams were dismissed by the last ball of their respective innings.
It was SW Tait – the last man dismissed by the last ball in Australia’s innings {bowled by Mohammad Aamer for 4} came out to bowl the last over of Pakistan’s innings and ended it by clean bowling Saeed Ajmal for four of the last delivery.!
Earlier Australia had lost five wickets in the last over bowled by Mohammad Aamer which was a maiden over. Never before in the history of cricket, be it a test mach, a one day international, a first class match, a T20 match, there was never an occasion of five wickets falling in an over, and that too in the last over of an innings which was a maiden over !
