AY Patel’s 10 for 119 for New Zealand against India at Mum-WS in the second test which had a start date of 03 Dec 2021 was in a losing cause. His figures now represent the best bowling figures in an innings in a losing cause in the annals of test cricket. The previous best innings figures in a losing cause was credited to N Kapil Dev of India. His figures of 9 for 83 against West Indies at Ahmedabad in Nov 1983 had gone in vain.
