Chris Gayle earned distinction as the only batsman to register a triple hundred when his other opening partner failed to open his account in the annals of test cricket. He achieved the feat in the test match between West Indies and South Africa at Antigua in 2004-05. His feat provided the fifth such instance of an opener registering a double hundred while his partner failed to open his account in the annals of test cricket.
