Couple of records for DA Warner on home soil

DA Warner’s 164 against Pakistan at Perth in the just concluded test represent his 20th century on home soil while opening the innings. He became the second opening batsman in the annals of test cricket to score 20 plus centuries on home soil. ML Hayden is the other opening batsman to score 20 plus centuries on homs soil. He has scored 21 centuries on home soil. This is a record for Australian opening batsmen also. Incidentally. both ML Hayden and DA Warner are left handed opening batsmen. At the end of the Perth test against Pakistan, DA Warner owns the Australian record for most runs by an opening batsman on home soil. His aggregate read 5292. He went past ML Hayden’s 5210 during his knock of 164 in the first innings.

DA Warner’s second innings zero was his sixth zero while opening the innings on home soil. He now owns the record for most zeroes by an Australian opening batsman on home soil. The other three opening Australian opening batsmen who have scored five zeroes on home soil are – ML Hayden, DC Boon and GM Wood
