He now stands in the second place amongst the bowlers who have captured most wickets against England. BS Chandrashekhar with 95 wickets to his credit occupies the first place. R Ashwin went past A Kumble who had an aggregate of 92 wickets against England to occupy the second place.
R Ashwin’s two wickets fetched him an aggregate of 164 wickets when he shared the new ball as a spinner. He was bowling in his 50th test innings in this capacity. He became the first bowler in the annals of cricket to bowl in 50 innings as a spinner sharing the new ball.
