Gundappa Ranganath Viswanath is the first Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped in a test innings after scoring a century. He was dismissed stumped for 131 against Australia at Delhi in October 1979 by Kevin John Wright of James  Donald Higgs. Higgs was a leg break Googly bowler. As on date, there are twelve occasion of Indian batsmen who have been dismissed stumped in a test innings after scoring a century. All such occasions are tabulated below

Here are the some of the oddities observed in the above list. GR Viswanath is the only Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped after scoring a century – 131 – against Australia

RJ Shastri and RG Sharma are the two batsmen to be dismissed stumped in a test innings on two occasions. RJ Shastri’s dismissals have come in two different tests, while RG Sharma has been dismissed in both innings of a test.

RG Sharma is the only batsman in the annals of test cricket to be dismissed in both innings of a test. He was dismissed stumped by Q de Kock  of K Maharaj after scoring 176 in the first innings and was dismissed stumped by Q de Kock of K Maharaj after scoring 127 in the second innings against South Africa at Visakhapatnam in Oct 2019 Thus RG Sharma was dismissed by same combination of wicket keeper and bowler in both innings of a test.

As RG Sharma opened the innings for India in this test, he earned the distinction of becoming the only opening batsman in the annals of test cricket to be dismissed stumped in both innings of a test match. RG Sharma’s 176 represents the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in this category of statstics

RJ Shastri was dismissed stumped for 128 against Pakistan at Karachi in Jan 1983 to become the first Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped in a test innings after scoring a century on away soil. His second such dismissal for 102  at St John’s against West Indies in Apr 1983, made him the only Indian batsman to be dismissed stumped after scoring a century on two occasions on away soil.

R Dravid and MS Dhoni were dismissed stumped in a test innings for an identical score of 148. R Dravid was dismissed stumped for 148 against England at Leeds in Aug 2002, While MS Dhoni was dismissed stumped for 148 against Pakistan at Faisalabad in Jan 2006

Wankhede and Visakhapatnam are the two grounds to witness two occasions of batsman dismissed stumped after scoring a century. CA Pujara was dismissed stumped for 135 against England at Wankhede in Nov 2012 and J Yadav was dismissed stumped for 104 against England at Wankhede in Dec 2016. RG Sharma was the batsman to be dismissed stumped for 176 and 127 in both innings of a test at Visakhapatnam.

M Murali and RG Sharma are the two batsman to  be dismissed stumped in a test innings after scoring 150 plus runs.
