An extremely rare coincidence in One day Internationals
One of my cousins – a great cricket enthusiast – by name Sri Manjunath Anantharamaiah who retired from State Bank of India, St Mark’s Road Branch, Bangalore and has seen the SBI Greats – GR Viswanth, SMH Kirmani, Roger Binny, Raghuram Bhat, Raghunath Beerala, R Arun Kumar and a host of others from very close quarters has observed an extremely rare coincidence in the history of One day Internationals
He has observed that in two one day internationals, played on consecutive days – in different countries (neighbouring countries}, the teams batting first and second scored identical runs as a result of which the result margin of win by runs was also identical in both the games
England scored 304 while batting first and India scored 308 for 6 while batting second and won the match by six wickets at Nagpur on 08 Feb 2025. This game was played in India and was the second ODI of the bilateral Series
South Africa scored 304 for 8 while batting first and New Zealand scored 308 for 6 while batting second and won the match by six wickets at Lahore on 09 Feb 2025. This game was played in Pakistan as a part of Pakistan Tri series
Those who want to congradulate Sri Manjunath on this brilliant finding are requested to do so on his mobile number 99161 20696 which is also his whatsapp number
