KS Williamson scored hundred on debut when he leg glanced Zaheer Khan’s delivery and took his score from 99 to 103 {122.6 over}. He was finally dismissed for 131. He became the 89th batsman in the annals of test cricket to score a hundred on debut. He is the eighth New Zealand batsman to score a hundred on debut. KS Williamson with his 131 in this innings became the third batsman to score a hundred on debut in the calendar year 2010. Others are – 100 by AN Petersen of South Africa vs India at Kolkata in Feb 2010 and 120 by SK Raina of India vs Sri Lanka at Col-SSC in Jul 2010.

JD Ryder {103} and KS Williamson {131} scored hundreds in this innings to provide the 34th and 35th occasion of New Zealand batsmen scoring hundreds against India.

JD Ryder registered his third test hundred – all his three hundreds coming against India. The other two occasions are – 201 at Napier in Mar 2009 and 102 at Hamilton in Mar 2009.

Harbhajan Singh conceded 100 plus runs in India’s first innings to provide the 26th occasion of an Indian bowler conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against New Zealand.

Harbhajan Singh conceded 100 plus runs in India’s first innings to provide the 39th occasion of his conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings. He is now on par with Danish Kaneria of Pakistan who also has conceded 100 plus runs in a test innings on 39 occasions. Only M Muralitharan {61}, A Kumble {57} and SK Warne {40} have conceded 100 plus runs on more occasions than Danish Kaneria and Harbhajan Singh

PP Ojha conceded 100 plus runs in India’s first innings to provide the 27th occasion of an Indian bowler conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against New Zealand.

DL Vettori had an aggregate of 3962 runs prior to the start of the test series. He required 38 more runs for his 4000 runs. He scored 41 runs in New Zealand’s first innings

and his aggregate stood at 4005. He became the fifth New Zealand batsman to total 4000 test runs. Others are – SP Fleming {7172}, MD Crowe {5444}, JG Wright {5334} and NJ Astle {4072}

DL Vettori’s 4005 runs and 329 wickets became the third all round cricketer in the annals of test cricket tp score 4000 plus runs and capture 300 test wickets. Others are – N Kapil Dev {5248 runs and 434 wickets} and IT Botham {5200 runs and 383 wickets}

DL Vettori had an aggregate of 490 runs against India prior to the start of the test series. He required ten more runs for his 500 runs. He scored 41 runs in New Zealand’s first innings and at the end of New Zealand’s first innings, his aggregate stood at 531. He became the tenth New Zealand batsman to total 500 plus runs against India. Others are – GT Dowling {964}, B Sutcliffe {885}, JG Wright {804}, MG Burgess {725}, BE Congdon {713}, JR Reid {691}, CD McMillan {647}, SP Fleming {620} and GM Turner {583}

PP Ojha bowled 53 overs in this innings to provide the 13th occasion of an Indian bowler bowling fifty plus overs in an innings against New Zealand.

G Gambhir scored zero in India’s second innings providing the 68th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring zero against New Zealand. It also provides the 12th occasion of an Indian opening batsman scoring a duck against New Zealand.

V Sehwag was dismissed run out in India’s second innings providing the 21st occasion of Indian batsman dismissed run out against New Zealand. It also provides the sixth occasion of an Indian opening batsman scoring a duck against New Zealand.

V Sehwag was dismissed run out for the second time against New Zealand as an opening batsman. The first occasion was at Hamilton in Mar 2009 when he was run out after scoring 24. V Sehwag is the second Indian opening batsman to be dismissed run out on two occasions, the other being S Abid Ali

DL Vettori shared the new ball in New Zealand’s second innings to provide the second occasion of a left arm spin bowler sharing the new ball. The first occasion was at Bangalore in Nov 1988, when EH Gray had shared the new ball.

India lost three wickets for two runs in its second innings to provide the fourth occasion of a team losing three wickets with two runs on the board. The other three occasions are – 3 for 2 – England vs South Africa at Cape Town in Mar 1910, 3 for 2 – England vs South Africa at Jo’burg in Nov 1999 and 3 for 2 – New Zealand vs South Africa at Jo’burg in May 2006.

India lost four wickets for 15 runs in its second innings to provide the sixth occasion of a team losing four wickets with 15 runs on the board. The other five occasions are – 4 for 15 – Aus vs Eng at Lord’s in Jul 1888, 4 for 15 – NZl vs Pak at Dhaka in Nov 1955, 4 for 15 – – Pak vs Aus at Perth in Nov 1983, 4 for 15 – Ind vs SAF at Durban in Dec 1996 and 4 for 15 – Pak vs Zim at Peshawar in Nov 1988.

India lost its five wickets for 15 runs in the second innings of this test to provide the second occasion of a team losing five wickets for 15 runs in the annals of test cricket. The other occasion was Pakistan losing its five wickets for 15 runs against Sri Lanka at Sialkot in Sep 1995

SK Raina scored zero in India’s second innings providing the 69th occasion of an Indian batsman scoring zero against New Zealand.

CS Martin captured five wickets in second innings to provide the 23rd occasion of a New Zealand bowler capturing five or more wickets in an innings against India.

CS Martin’s five wickets in this test represents the ninth occasion of his capturing five or more wickets in an innings. Other occasions are – 6 for 54 vs Sri Lanka at Wellington in Apr 2005, 6 for 76 vs South Africa at Auckland in Mar 2004, 5 for 37 vs South Africa at Johannesburg in May 2006, 5 for 55 vs South Africa at Wellington in Mar 2004, 5 for 65 vs Bangladesh at Wellington in Jan 2008, 5 for 104 vs South Africa at Auckland in Mar 2004 and 5 for 152 vs Australia at Brisbane in Nov 2004
