India lost five wickets for 15 runs in its second innings against New Zealand at Ahmeabad in the just concluded first test. India’s ignominy in this test provides the tenth occasion of a team losing five wickets for a score under 16 runs in the annals of test cricket.

India had lost five wickets for six runs in its second innings against England at The Oval in Aug 1952, India, England, Australia are the three teams to have lost five wickets for less than 16 runs on two occasions

India added 50 runs for the sixth wicket after losing five wickets for 15 runs, providing only the third occasion of a team posting 50 plus runs for the sixth wicket. The other two occasions are – Manjural Islam Rana and Rajen Saleh of Bangladesh added 67 runs for the sixth wicket after their team had lost 5 wickets for 14 runs against Zimbabwe at Harare in Feb 2004 and Basit Ali and Moin Khan of Pakistan added 64 runs for the sixth wicket after their team had lost five wickets fo r 15 runs against Sri Lanka at Sialkot in Sep 1995
