Harbhajan Singh scored 111 not out provides the eleventh occasion of an Indian batsman scoring hundred while batting at number eight. Harbhajan Singh scored his second hundred while batting at number eight, the first being his 115 at Ahmedabad against New Zealand in Nov 2010.

Harbhajan Singh became the second Indian batsman to score hundreds while batting at number eight, the first being N Kapil Dev {116 vs England at Kanpur in Jan 1982 and 110 vs England at The Oval in Aug 1990}

Harbhajan Singh with his two centuries while batting at number eight, became the eighth batsman in the annals of test cricket to score two or more hundreds while batting at number eight. Others are – Kamran Akmal of Pakistan {03}, DL Vettori {03}, MV Boucher {02}, EA Dalton {02}, N Kapil Dev {02}, BR Taylor {02} and Wasim Akram {02}.

Harbhajan Singh scored seven sixes during his knock of 111 not out in this test. He became the second batsman to hit seven or more sixes while batting at number eight. Wasim Akram holds the record for most sixes – He had scored 12 sixes in his knock of 257 not out while batting at number eight against Zimbabwe at Sheikupura in Oct 1996.

DL Vetttoi captured 5 for 133 in this test to provide the 176th occasion of a New Zealand bowler capturing five or more wickets in an innings against various oppositions. It also represents 19th occasion of DL Vettori capturing five or more wickets in an innings. Only RJ Hadlee has captured more number of five or more wickets {36} than DL Vettori.

DL Vetttoi captured 5 for 133 in this test to provide the 24th occasion of a New Zealand bowler capturing five or more wickets in an innings against India.

TG Southee {119} and DL Vettori {135} conceded 100 plus runs in this test providing the 26th and 27th occasion of a New Zealand bowler conceding 100 plus runs in a test innings against India.

DL Vettori’s 5 for 135 in this test provides the third occasion of a New Zealand bowler capturing five or more wickets conceding 100 plus runs against India. The other two occasions are – 6 for 127 by DL Vettori at Kanpur in Oct 1999 and 5 for 145 by DK Morrison at Auckland in Feb 1990.

TG McIntosh and BB McCullum added 125 runs for the first wicket in the second innings of this test to provide the 48th occasion of New Zealand batsman posting a three figure partnership against India. This stand also provides the seventh occasion of New Zealand batsman posting a three figure partnership for the first wicket against India.

BB McCullum scored 124 not out in New Zealand’s second innings to provide the 37th occasion of a New Zealand batsman scoring a hundred against India. It also provides the 14th occasion of a New Zealand opening batsman scoring a hundred against India.

BB McCullum scored his sixth hundred and 23rd fifty when he scored 124 not out in this test at the end of the fourth day. His other five hundreds are – 185 vs Bangladesh at Hamilton in Feb 2010, 143 vs Bangladesh at Dhaka in Oct 2004, 115 vs India at Napier in Mar 2009, 111 vs Zimbabwe at Harare in Aug 2005 and 104 vs Australia at Wellington in Mar 2010.

BB McCullum’s 124 not out in this test represents his second hundred against India, the first being his 115 at Napier in Mar 2009. Thus his 124 not out represents his highest score against India.

BB McCullum completed 3000 runs of his test career when he was on 48 during his knock of 124 not out. At the end of the fourth day’s play his aggregate stood at 3066. He became the eleventh New Zealand batsman to score 3000 plus runs. Others are – SP Fleming {7172}, MD Crowe {5444}, JG Wright {5334}, NJ Astle {4702}, DL Vettori {4014}, BE Congdon {3448}, JR Reid {3428}, CL Cairns {3320}, RJ Hadlee {3124} and CD McMillan {3166}

DL Vettori’s 5 for 135 in this test provide the 110th occasion of a captain capturing five or more wickets in a test innings. It also represents the sixth occasion of DL Vettori capturing five or more wickets in a test innings as captain. The six occasions are – 5 for 69 vs England at Lord’s in May 2008. 5 for 66 vs England at Manchester in May 2008, 5 for 59 vs Bangladesh at Chittagong in Oct 2008, 5 for 66 vs Bangladesh at Dhaka in Oct 2008, 6 for 56 vs West Indies at Dunedin in Dec 2008 and 5 for 135 vs India at Hyd-RGS in Nov 2010.

DL Vettori with six five wickets hauls as captain earns the distinction of becoming the fifth captain in the annals of test cricket to capture six or more five wicket hauls as captain. Others are – Imran Khan {12}, R Benaud {09}, BS Bedi {08} and CA Wals
h {07}. DL Vettori wrested the records of Fazal Mahmooad and Intikhab Alam who had captured five wickets hauls on five occasions while leading Pakistan
