TG Southee registered his second fifty when he scored 56 in this test. His other fifty was – 77 not out against England at Napier in Mar 2008.

Taufeeq Umar {54} : Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq {83} scored fifties in New Zealand’s innings providing the 23^rd occasion of three or more Pakistan batsmen scoring fifties in an innings against New Zealand

Mohammad Hafeez {zero} and Taufeeq Umar {54} scored zero and fifty respectively in the first innings of this providing the very first occasion of Pakistan opening batsmen scoring zero and fifty in the same innings against New Zealand.

Tafeeq Umar’s 54 represents his tenth test half century and 14^th fitty : Misbah-ul-Haq’s 62 represents his eighth test half century and tenth fifty and Asad Shafiq’s 83 repreesnts his second test half century and also highest test score. The previous best was 61 vs South Africa at Abu Dhabi in Nov 2010 which was his debut test. Asad Shafiq earned the distinction of scoring fifties in consective tests since his test debut

Misbah-ul-Haq’s 62 in this test provide the 18^th occasion of a Pakistan captain scoring a fifty against New Zealand.

Taufeeq Umar {54} : Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq {83} scored fifties in New Zealand’s innings which swelled the number of fifties scored by New Zealand batsmen against Pakistan to 140.

BJ Arnell’s 4 for 95 in the first innings of this test represent his career best innings effort. It was an improvement over his previous best effort of 3 for 77 vs Australia at Hamilton in Mar 2010.

JD Ryder collected his first ball duck in the second innings of this test providing the 23^rd occasion of a New Zealand batsman collecting the first ball duck against Pakistan.
