First match – Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians at Chennai on 04.04.12 : Mumbai won by eight wickets

Mumbai became the fourth team to appear in 60 plus IPL games. This game was its 60th match. Other teams to play 60 plus IPL games are – Chennai {63}, Bangalore {62} and Hyderabad {60}

MS Dhoni became the sixth cricketer to appear in 60 plus IPL games. This game was his 60th game. Others are – S Badrinath {63}, SK Raina {63}, RG Sharma {62}, V Kohli {61} and AC Gilchrist {60}

MS Dhoni became the first captain to lead a team in 60 IPL games. This was his 60th game as captain of Chennai.

F de Pliess, MS Dhoni and R Aswhin were run out in this game providing 327th, 328th and 329th occasion of a batsman dismissed run out in IPL.

KRD Karthik became the second wicket keeper batsman to represent three IPL teams. Earker he has played for Delhi and Punjab. In this edition he is representing Mumbai. The other wicket keeper batsman to represent three teams is – RV Uthappa who represented Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune

SR Tendulkar was retired hurt in this game providing the fifth occasion of a batsman retiring hurt in IPL.

R Levi scored 50 in this game which was his debut 50 in IPL.

Mumbai won this game by eight wickets providing the 22nd occasion of a team winning the game by exact eight wickets margin in IPL. This win also provides Mumbai’s 15th win by wickets margin and fourth win by exact eight wickets margin.
