ICC Champions Trophy 2009 : Nikita Miller's distinction

Nikita Miller of West Indies scored 51 against Pakistan on 23.09.09 – the second game of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa, to become the first batsman in the tournament to register a fifty while batting at number nine. The previous highest score by a batsman batting at number nine was credited to BB McCullum who had made 47 against Australia at The Oval on 16.09.04

Miller was making his first appearance in the tournament. He is the third West Indian batsman to score a half century on first appearance in the tournament. The other two are PA Wallace {79 vs Pakistan at Dhaka on 31.10.98} and RS Morton {90* vs Australia at Mum-BS on 18.10.06}

Miller became the 23rd batsman to register a fifty on first appearance in the tournament. The following table lists all of them in the chronological order
