Bangladesh wins their first One day game against West Indies

Both the teams were having new captains in this game. FL Reifer became the 22nd West Indian captain in One day games, while Shakibal Hasan became the 11th Bangladesh captain.

ADS Fletcher on his debut as a wicket keeper for West Indies had his first victim of the very first ball. He caught Tamim Iqbal of Bangladesh in this game of KAJ Roach for zero. The closest example of a wicket keeper on his debut having his first victim of the very first ball is that of L Ronchi of Australia. Making his one day debut he caught XM Marshall of the first delivery bowled by B Lee for zero in the match between West Indies and Australia at Greneda on 27.06.08

There are two clear distinctions between the feats of ADS Fletcher and L Ronchi. ADS Fletcher was making his debut as wicket keeper for West Indies {having made his debut earlier as a batsman}, while L Ronchi was making his one day debut. KAJ Roach registered his first five wicket haul in one day games when he returned with figures of 10.0-0-44-5 in this game. His figures represent the 39th occasion of a West Indian bowler capturing five or more wickets in an innings.

KAJ Roach is the second West Indian bowler to capture five wickets against Bangladesh, the first being M Dillon who had figures of 10.0-0-4-29-5 at Southampton on 15.09.04.

KAJ Roach becomes the first West Indian bowler to witness his five wicket haul in a losing cause against Bangladesh. Bangladesh posted its highest team total against West Indies when they totaled 246 for 9 in 50 overs in this game. It’s their first total of 200 plus against West Indies in West Indies. The previous highest team total was 219 for 5 at Dhaka on 08.10.99.

Abdur Razaak became the second spinner in one day games to capture four or more wickets when sharing a new ball. He returned with figures of 9.4-0-39-4 in this game. The other bowler is RDM Leverlock of Bermuda {10.0-0-53-5 against Kenya at Mombasa on 14.11.06}.

Abdul Razaak with his 4 for 39 in this game provided the 27th occasion of a Bangladesh bowler capturing four or more wickets in one day games. He is the second Bangladesh bowler to capture four or more wickets against West Indies., the other being Tapash Baisya {5.0-1-16-4 at Kingstown on 16.05.04}.
