MJ Clarke became the 28th batsman to score a century in his 50th test in the annals of test cricket when he scored 103 not out in the second innnings of the third test Birmingham. He is the fourth Australian batsman to earn the distinction. The other three are – RB Simpson {103 in second innings against India at Adeliade in Dec 1967}, WM Lawry {205 in first innings against West Indies at Melbourne in Dec 1968} and MA Taylor {170 vs SAF at Melbourne in Dec 1993}

MJ Clarke became the fourth batsman to register a hundred in his 50th test against England. The other three batsmen are – SM Gavaskar of India {221 in second innings at The Oval in Aug 1979, WJ Cronje of South Africa {126 in first innings at Nottingham in Jul 1998} and HH Gibbs of SAF {183 in first innings at The Oval in Sep 2003}
