M Muralitharan captured his 100th wicket against India when he had the wicket of Indian skipper MS Dhoni bowled for 33. At the end of the fourth day’s play his aggregate of wickets against India stood at 103. He became the first bowler in the annals of test cricket to total 100 wicket against India. His feat of 100 wickets against India would provide the 35th occasion of a bowler capturing 100 plus wickets against a specific opposition.

His 103 wickets against India at the end of the fourth day of this test has earned him the distinction of aggregating 100 plus wickets against three oppositions. He has already aggregated 112 wickets against England and 104 wickets against South Africa. He became the second bowler in the annals of test cricket to total 100 plus wickets against three specific oppositions after SK Warne of Australia. SK Warne has an aggregate of 195 wickets against England, 103 wickets against New Zealand and 130 wickets against South Africa.

DPMD Jayawardene took three catches of the bowling of Muralitharan – two in the first and one in the second innings – and at the end of the fourth day’s play, this fielder-bowler combination has accounted for 76 batsmen.
