Bangladesh won the toss in this game and inserted the opposition in this game to provide the 93rd occasion of a team inserting the opposition in WT20. South African innings contained three fifties –  HM Amla {58}, Q de Kock {52} and JP Duminy {52} – to provide the second occasion of three batsmen scoring fifties in an innings of a T20I. The first such occasion was by Indian batsmen against England at Durban on 19.09.07 when G Gambhir {58}, V Sehwag {68} and Yuvraj Singh {58} had scored fifties. HM Amla {58} and Q de Kock {52} scored fifties in this game to provide the 25th occasion of both the openers scoring fifties in an innings of a T20I game. Q de Kock’s 52 in this game provide the 16t occasion of a wicket keeper batsman scoring a fifty in WT20 and the first such occasion by a South African wicket keeper batsman in WT20. It also represents the best score by a South African wicket keeper batsman in WT20. The previous best was 36 by MV Boucher against India at Durban on 20.09.07

South Africa posted 229 for 4 in this game to provide the ninth occasion of South Africa posting a total of 200 plus runs in WT20. South Africa now owns the record for posting 200 plus runs in WT20 on most occasions,

HM Amla and Q de Kock added 96 runs for the first wicket in this game to provide the seventh occasion of South African batsmen posting an opening partnership of 50 plus runs in WT20. It also represents the record stand by South African batsmen for the first wicket in WT20. The previous best was the 94 runs unfinished partnership between HM Amla and RE Levi against Zimbabwe at Hambantota on 20.09.12

JP Duminy and DA Miller added 60 runs in an unfinished stand for the fifth wicket in this game to provide the first occasion of South African batsmen posting a fifty plus runs for the fifth wicket in WT20. It also represents the record fifth wicket stand by South African batsmen in WT20. The previous best was 48 runs unfinished partnership between SM Pollock and JM Kemp against New Zealand at Durban on 19.09.07.

HM Amla-Q de Kock added 96 runs for the first wicket and JP Duminy-DA Miller added 60 runs in an unfinished stand for the fifth wicket in this game to provide the 21st and 22nd occasion of South African batsmen posting 50 plus runs partnerships in WT20. It also provides the fifth occasion of South African batsmen posting two 50 plus runs partnerships in an innings of a WT20 game. It also provides the second such occasion against England in WT20. The first such occasion was witnessed at Chittagong on 29.03.14. HM Amla-Q de Kock added 90 runs for the first wicket in this game which was followed by 54 runs stand for the fourth wicket between AB de Villiers and DA Miller. These two fifty plus runs partnerships by South African batsmen provide the 36th occasion of batsmen posting two fifty plus runs partnerships in an innings in the history of WT20

F du Plessis completed 1000 runs in T20I when he was on 5 during his knock of 17 in this game. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 1012. He became the third South African batsman to total 1000 plus runs in T20I. Others are JP Duminy {1625} and AB de Villiers {1274}. He also became the 27th batsman to total 1000 plus runs in the history of T20Is.

JE Root scored 83 for England in this game to provide the 17th occasion of an England batsman scoring a fifty in WT20
