No   Pos Batsman Runs Team Oppn Venue Date
1   04 A Symonds 117* Deccan Rajasthan Hyd-RGS 24.04.08
2   05 YK Pathan 100 Rajasthan Mumbai Mum-BS 13.03.10
3 * 02 SR Tendulkar 100* Mumbai Kochi Mumbai 15.04.11
4 + 04 WP Saha 115* Punjab Kolkata Bangalore 01.06.14
5 * 01 V Kohli 100* Bangalore Gujarat Rajkot 24.04.16

The first such instance was witnessed when A Symond’s 117 not out went in vain in the game between Deccan Chargers and Rajasthan Royals at Hyd-RGS on 24.04.08. Batting at number four for Deccan Chargers, A Symonds scored 117 not out with the help of 11 boundary fours and seven boundary sixes. He was at the crease facing 53 deliveries. Riding on A Symond’s century, Deccan Charges posted 214 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted twenty overs. Rajasthan Royals won the game with a ball to spare. GC Smith {73} and YK Pathan {61} and their second wicket partnership worth 98 runs laid the foundation for Rajasthan Royal’s facile win with a ball to spare. M Kaif {34} and skipper SK Warne {22 not out} were the other contributors to Rajasthan Royal’s win.

17 runs were needed for a win in the last over. A Symonds – the batting hero of Deccan Charges became its bowling villain – as he was hit for 19 runs in five balls. Rajasthan Royal’s skipper hit him for a boundary four of third ball and smote him for two consecutive boundary sixes of fourth and fifth deliveries to clinch a thrilling win for his team. A Symond’s said : “I’ve probably bowled the worst last over in Twenty20 history. Twenty20 is good for the game but not for the ego.”

This is how the numero uno cricket portal espncricinfo.com described the eventful fourth and fifth deliveries bowled by A Symonds

19.4 – Symonds to Warne, SIX, Goodness! Warne steps down and clubs that high into the second tier over deep midwicket, how that changes things!

19.5 – Symonds to Warne, SIX, the captain blazes and what a sensational win! Warne steps down the track and carts a half volley just over the deep extra cover rope. All players in the dugout rush onto the field and Yusuf Pathan jumps on top of Warne, the guys in blue are simply ecstatic

The second occasion of an IPL hundred going in vain is witnessed in the game between Rajasthan Royals and Mumbai Indians at Mum-BS on 13.03.10. This game witnessed the first ever occasion of rival teams posting a three figure partnership in an IPL game and also the fifth occasion of both the teams posting the team total of 200 plus runs in an IPL game. Yousuf Pathan remains the only batsman in the entire IPL to be dismissed runout after scoring a hundred. He had made an exact 100 before he was dismissed run out in this game.
