V Kohli of India scored 70  not out and KA Pollard of West Indies scored 68 in the just concluded T20I between India and West Indies at Mumbai on 11.12.19 to provide the  174th and 175th occasion of captains scoring a fifty in T20IS.

It also provides the tenth occasion of rival captains scoring fifties in a T20I. All such occasions are tabulated below. It  is interesting to note that seven of these ten occasions have come in the calendar year 2019.

V Kohli has an aggregate of 2450 in T20Is runs prior to the start of the series. He requires 50 more runs for his 2500 runs. If he gets them, he would become the second batsman in the history of T20Is to aggregate 2500 runs after RG Sharma. RG Sharma has scored 2539 runs.

RG Sharma and V Kohli have scored 22 fifties in T20Is. RG Sharma has scored 04 centuries and 18 half centuries. V Kohli has scored 22 half centuries. Any one of these two batsman scores a half century, he would then own the record for most fifties in the history of T20Is.

V Kohli has scored 881 runs in T20Is at home. He needs nine more runs for his 900 runs. If he scores them, then he would become the  first Indian batsman to score 900 T20I runs at home and the third batsman in the history of T20Is to score 900 T20I runs. Others are – MJ Guptill {1430} and C Munro {1000}

V Kohli has scored seven half centuries at home in T20Is. One more half century would fetch him his eighth half century and with it he would become the second batman in T20Is to score eight or more half centuries at home after MJ Guptill. MJ Guptill has scored 12 half centuries.

YS Chahal has captured 50 wickets in T20Is. He needs two more wickets to surpass JJ Bumrah’s tally of 51 wickets to earn the second place among the Indian bowlers who have captured most wickets in T20Is.

YS Chahal has captured 50 wickets in T20Is. He needs three more wickets to surpass R Ashwin’s tally of 52 wickets and own the record for most wickets by an Indian bowler in T20Is

YS Chahal has captured 27 wickets at home in T20Is. He needs three more wickets for his 30 wickets. If he gets them, then he would become the first Indian bowlers to capture 30 wickets in T20Is on home soil.

RG Sharma has scored 425 runs against West Indies in T20Is. He requires 75 more runs for his 500 runs. If he scores them, then he would become the first batsman in India-West Indies T20I series to aggregate 500 runs

RG Sharma has scored 24 boundary sixes against West Indies in T20Is. He requires one more boundary six for his 25 boundary sixes. RG Sharma has scored four fifties against West Indies. One more fifty would fetch him his fifth fifty. If he scores it, he would own the record for most fifties against West Indies. He would go past TM Dilshan of Sri Lanka who has scored four fifties against West Indies.

KA Pollard would become the fourth captain to lead West Indies against India in T20Is. Others are – CH Gayle, DJ  Sammy and CR Brathwaite.

V Kohli and B Kumar have played nine T20Is against West Indies. One more game for each of them  would be their tenth game against West Indies. They would become the second and third Indian cricketers to play ten or more T20Is against West Indies. RG Sharma has played 12 T20Is against West Indies prior to the start of the series.

RR Pant and MS Dhoni have played seven T20I games against West Indies as wicketkeepers prior to the start of the series. One more appearance for RR Pant in this series would make him India’s most capped wicketkeeper against West Indies.
