S Dhawan scored 107 against Bangladesh at Bangalore in the recently concluded test which was his  first  appearance  hundred against Afghanistan. This was  his  fifth first  appearance  hundred against a team in tests. Prior to this he had scored first appearance hundred against four teams – namely – Australia, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

He has achieved an unique distinction in the annals of test cricket to  score first appearance hundred against five teams which no other batsman has  achieved in the test history. The following table lists his five first appearance hundreds

Afghanistan lost its debut test against India at Bengaluru in Jun 2018  by an innings and 262 runs to provide the third occasion of a team on its debut losing the test by an innings margin. The  other two occasions are  – West Indies losing its debut test at Lord’s against England in Jun 1928 by an innings and 58 runs and Pakistan losing its debut test against India at Delhi in Oct 1952 by an innings and 70 runs. Thus Afghanistan became the second team to lose its debut test by an innings margin against India after Pakistan.

Afghanistan was dismissed for 109 and 103 on the second day of its inaugural test against India at Bengaluru in June 2018 to provide  the fourth occasion of a team dismissed all  out in both innings of a test in the annals of test cricket. It also provides the third occasion of a team dismissed in such a manner on the second day of the test. Afghanistan became the third team to suffer such an ignominy.

India won the toss and elected to bat In this test to provide  the 206th  occasion of India winning  the toss and electing to bat in a test. It also provides the 124th such occasion on home soil and also the ninth  such occasion in a Bangalore Test.

Yamin Ahmedzai had the honour of bowling the  first delivery for Afghanistan in Test Cricket. He also had the honour of capturing the first test wicket for Afghanistan when he claimed the wicket of S Dhawan caught by Mohammad Nabi for 107

The Bangalore Test between India and Afghanistan which stared today that is  June, 14, 2018 will be the first ever test to be played by India in India in the month of June. India became the second country to host a test in the month of June apart from England.

The first such occasion was the 176 runs partnership between AD Gaekwad and SM Gavaskar against Pakistan in Sep 1983.

S Dhawan and M Vijay added 168 runs for  the first wicket in this test to  provide  the 35th occasion of Indian batsmen posting 150 plus runs partnership for the first wicket on home soil.

KD Karthik was dismissed run out for 4 in India’s innings to provide the 152nd occasion of a wicket keeper batsman dismissed  run out in an innings in the annals of test cricket. It also provides the 32nd  occasion of  an Indian wicket keeper batsman dismissed run out in an innings. It also provides the 17th such occasion on Indian soil

KD Karthik’s run out dismissal for 4 in this test provides the second occasion of his run out dismissal in a test innings. The other occasion was against Pakistan at Kolkata in Mar 2005. He had made 28 runs in this  innings. He became the fifth Indian wicket keeper to be dismissed run out on two or more occasions on home soil.
