The Two test series between India and Bangladesh will start with the first test at Chennai starting from Sep 19 2024.

Chepauk is all set to host its 35th test and the first between India and Bangladesh. Chepauk will share the second place with Arun Jaitely Stadium, Delhi for most tests played in India. Both these grounds will be hosting 35 tests. Eden Gardens, Kolkata with 42 tests occupies the first place

RA Jadeja has scored 3036 runs and captured 294 wickets prior to this test. Six more wickets would fetch him 300 wickets.  If he gets it, he would then become the second left handed cricketer in the annals of test cricket to score 3000 runs and capture 300 plus wickets.  DL Vettori {4531 runs and 362 wickets} is the other left handed cricketer to perform such a feat.

India has won 178 tests and lost 178 tests prior to the start of the first test against Bangladesh slated to start on 19 Sep 2024 at Chennai.  If India wins this test, it would become the fourth team in the annals of test cricket to win more tests than the tests it has lost. Australia, England and Pakistan are the other three teams to win more tests than the tests it has lost

The previous test match abandoned was the test between New Zeland and India at Dunedin. It is interesting to note that Javagal Srinath was a cricketer named by India in this abandoned test at Dunedin. Javagal Srinath was the match referee in the just concluded abandoned test between Afghanistan and New Zealand at Greater Noida.

Javagal Srinath became the first cricketer and match referee to appear in abandoned tests – these two tests involving New Zealand as one of the teams.

The first four day’s  of play was washed out in the test between Afghanistan and  New Zealand at Greater Noida to provide the 38th occasion of a day’s  play washed out in a test on Indian soil.  The list also includes the fifth day of the test called off at Bangalore between Indiaia and West Indies in 1978-79 due to the fear of riot consequent upon the arrest of the then Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi
