BA Stokes of England collected the first ball duck in England’s first innings to provide the 331st occasion of an England batsman collecting the first ball duck in an innings against all oppositions. It also provides the seventh occasion of an England batsman collecting the first ball duck in an innings against India
BA Stokes of England was dismissed for zero in England’s first innings to provide the 116th occasion of an England captain scoring zero in an innings against all oppositions. It also provides the seventh occasion of an England captain scoring zero in an innings against India
BA Stokes was dismissed for zero in England’s first innings to provide the second occasion of his dismissed for zero against India. Prior to this he was dismissed for zero against India at Dharamsala in Mar 2024. BA Stokes became the second England captain to be dismissed for zero on two occasions against India. AR Lewis is the other England captain to be dismissed for zero on two occasions against India. He was dismissed for zero against India at Delhi in Dec 1972 and at Brabourne in Feb 1973
It is interesting to note that AR Lewis and BA Stokes have one of their ducks as first ball duck. AR Lewis collected the first ball duck at Brabourne in Feb 1973, while BA Stokes collected the first ball duck at Birmingham in Jul 2025 {this test}
BA Stokes of England collected the first ball duck in England’s first innings to provide the 25th occasion of an England captain collecting the first ball duck in an innings against all oppositions. It also provides the second occasion of an England captain collecting the first ball duck in an innings against India.
BA Stokes, BA Carse, JC Tongue and Shoaib Bashir were dismissed for zeroes on the third day of the test. BM Duckett and O Pope were dismissed for zeroes on the second day of the test. Thus a total of six England batsmen were dismissed for zeroes in England’s first innings. Thus a total of 211 England batsmen were dismissed for zeroes in an innings against India.
The test cricket has witnessed nine occasions of six batsmen scoring zeroes in an innings including the one in England’s innings in this test. This is the first occasion of six England batsmen scoring zeroes in an innings and the second such occasion against India. Prior to this six South African batsmen had scored zeroes in the fourth innings of the test against India at Ahmedabad in Nov 1996
