DPMD Jayawardene registered his 13th fifty against India when he scored 100 plus in this test. Mahela Jayawardene of Sri Lanka became the first batsman in the annals of test cricket to aggregate 2500 runs at a specific venue. He earned this distinction when he was on 37 during the course of his knock of 174 on the second day in the second test at Col-SSC against India in the ongoing test series. His aggregate at the end of Sri Lanka’s first innings stood at 2641. Prior to the second test he has an aggregate of 2467 at Col-SSC.

R Dravid increased his tally of catches to 194, while VVS Laxman had it increased to 117. R Dravid and VVS Laxman have pouched seven catches against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. M Azharuddin holds the record for most catches by an Indian fieldsman against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka with 12 catches to his credit.
