The recently concluded Sydney test between Australia and England witnessed rival wicket keepers scoring zeroes in one of their innings to provide the seventh occasion of rival wicket keepers scoring zeroes in the test series between the two teams. JC Buttler failed to open his account in England’s first innings while AT Carey of Australia failed to open his account in Australia’s second innings. It also provides the second such occasion at Sydney, the first one being in Jan 1963. It also provides the the third such occasion on Australian soil. He is also the only captain to score unbeaten 300 plus runs and unbeaten 250 plus runs. GC Smith is the only captain to score 250 plus runs on two occasions against the same opposition in the same series. He scored 277 and 259 against England in 2003 series in consecutive tests.
