R Ashwin is in the threshold of creating two world records – one individually and another with RA Jadeja

R Aswhin is in the threshold of creating two world records – one individually and another with RA Jadeja. His individual record will be thus – If he gets one more wicket in this test, he would become the first bowler ever in the history of test cricket to capture 80 wickets in a test season. At the end of the first innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala, his aggregate of wickets in 2016-17 read 79

Another record he is going to create with RA Jadeja would be thus – RA Jadeja has captured 68 wickets as at the end of the first innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala. He needs two more wickets for his 70 wickets. If he gets them, then he would pair with R Ashwin to become the first pair of bowlers in the annals of test cricket to capture seventy plus wickets in the same test season – a feat never achieved before. R Ashwin has captured 79 wickets as the end of the first innings of the ongoing test at Dharamsala

R Ashwin’s feat – Most wickets in a test season – goes past DA Steyn

R Aswhin’s lone wicket – that of SPD Smith’s for 111 – gave him yet another distinction. It was his 79th wicket of the season – the most by a bowler in a season. He went past DA Steyn of South Africa who had a tally of 78 wickets in 2007/08 season. The following table lists the ten occasion of a bowler capturing 60 plus wickets  in a season.
