B Akhil’s first boundary six in this game gave him an aggregate of 28 sixes in KPL. He hit three more sixes to take his aggregate of boundary sixes to 31. MRKPL-M31-Q2-Belagavi Panthers vs Hubli Tigers at Mysuru on 19.09.15 – Hubli Tigers won by 23 runs

Belagavi Panthers won the toss and inserted the opposition in this game. KB Pawan and Mohd Taha were concerned in a 54 runs opening partnership for the first wicket. This is their fifth opening stand of 50 plus runs in this edition, Mohd Taha and NS Bhille were concerned in another stand of 64 plus runs for the fourth wicket. Mohd Taha scored 93 runs in this game to provide the fifth occasion of a batsman scoring a ninety in KPL. His 93 came in 56 deliveries and studded with nine boundary fours and five bounday sixes. Hubli Tigers finished with 177 for 7. NS Bhille {27} and CJ William {21} contribured to Hubli Tigers’s total. CJ William’s 21 came in 10 deliveries with two boundary sixes and a boundary four.

Chase was not easy for Belagavi Panthers as they lost the first wicket with the score board reading 23. G Chiranjeevi was the first to leave for 8. R Jonathan left soon to make the score board read 31 for 2. AM Reddy was conumed by Shivil Kaushik of P Jain for 19 to make it 40 for three. Belgavi Panthers found it diffcult to chase the target of 178 as it lost its skipper R Vinay Kumar for 14 and the score board read 65 for four. KN Bharat {48}, P Dubey {24} and S Hoover {31} tried in vain to get past the target and Belgavi Panthers lost the game by 23 runs. SL Akshay was the pick of the bowlers with a bag of 4 for 29.

MRKPL-M27 – Namma Shivamogga vs Mangalore United at Mysuru on 17.09.15 – Mangalore United won by three wickets

Namma Shivamogga batted first in this game after winning the toss. It could muster a none-too-comfortable total of 137 for 7. Skipper STR Binny’s 44 was the main contribtion to Namma Shivamogga’s total. RG More, SK Moinuddin and BN Bharath shared the spoils with two wickets apiece. S Gopal {24} was the other batsman to score 20 plus runs

Mangalore United romped home by three wickets. STR Biiny led his team astutely and made the opponents task difficult a bit difficult. He picked up two wickets and held an acrobatic catch to dismiss opener RP Kadam.

MRKPL-M28 – Mysuru Warriors vs Rockstars at Mysuru on 17.09.15 – Mysuru Warriors won by 75 runs

Riding on an opening stand of 110 runs between Arjun Hoysala and skipper CM Gautham, Mysore Warriors posted a total of 175 for 5 in 20.0 overs. Arjun Hoysala made 73 while CM Gautham scored 42 before he was run out. Nikin Jose who made his debut for Mysuru Warriors made a quickfire 25 in 18 deliveries. Madan Mohan was the pick of the bowlers with a bag of 3 for 21.

Nikin Jose shone with the leather also to return with figure of 6 for 11. His figure represent the best bowling figures in KPL. None of the Rockstars batsmen had a clue to this young lad’s bowling and he virtually toyed with them. Rockstars folded for an exact 100, while Nikin Jose’s figures read an impressive 3.2-0-11-6. Introduced into the attack in the eleventh over, he played havoc to dismiss Rockstats in 16.2 overs. He was born on 21.08.2000 and has completed 15 years just last month

MRKPL-M29-Eliminator – Hubli Tigers vs Mangalore United at Mysuru on 18.09.15 – Hubli Tigers won by nine wickets

Eliminator became an one sided affair as Mangalore United were dismissed for a paltry 101. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, none of the Mangalore United batsmen fared well, thus reducing the contest to become one sided affair. Wickets fell at regular intervals, while D Nagi {3 for 13}, S Kaushik {2 for 25} and K Kamath {2 for 13} made merry. KB Pawan took three catches and the fielding of Hubli Tigers was tidy.

Chasing the modest total, Hubli Tigers romped home by nine wickets. KB Pawan and Mohd Taha ensured that there were no hick ups during the chase and posted their fourth opening stand of 71 before KB Pawan was dismissed run out for 27. Mohd Taha who scored 58 added 31 runs in an unfinished stand for the second wicket ensured a facile win by nine wickets. KB Pawan aggregated 280 at the end of this game

MRKPL-M30- Qualifier 1 – Belgavi Panthers vs Bijapur Bulls at Mysuru on 18.09.15 – Bijapur Bulls won by six wickets

This game also turned out to be an one sided contest. Put into bat, Belagavi Panthers posted a none-too-comfortable total of 118 for 8 in 20.0 overs. KP Appanna and KC Cariappa were the wreckers-in-chief. Both the bowlers captured three wickets each. KC Cariappa had a tally of 13 wickets in KPL 2015 as at the end of this game. AM Reddy top scored in Belagavi Panther’s innings with 27.

RV Uthappa’s 50 and useful contributions from opener RR Bhatkal {23}, SN Raju {19*}, B Akhil {13} and M Nidesh {11*} made the chase easy for Bijapur Bulls. RR Bhatkal and RV Uthappa added 73 runs for the second wicket after Bijapur Bulls lost opener R Samarth for a duck to the second delivery of the innings. S Hoover picked up two of the four wickets that fell in Bijapur Bulls’ innings. He returned with 2 for 20 in three overs.

Reliable Openers of Hubli Tigers – Mohd Taha and KB Pawan put on 75 runs for the first wicket on which Hubli Tigers posted 155 for 7 wickets. CJ Williams batting at number five was the highest scorer with 43 runs. Mohd Taha {37} and KB Pawan {36} were the other principle scorers. D Anand was the pick of the bowlers for Mysuru Warriors with a bag of 3 for 22. He was well supported by K Gowtham who returned with figures of 2 for 28.

Mysuru Warriors the chase tough as it lost wickets at regular intervals. Skipper CM Gautham was the top scorer with 30 runs. J Suchith contributed 27 runs. K Kamath was the wrecker in chief with 3 for 12 in three overs. SL Akshay and Kranthi Kumar returned with figures of 2 for 12 and 2 for 15 respectively.

MRKPL-M24-Mangalore United vs Rockstars at Mysuru on 15.09.15 – Mangalore United won by 16 runs

Mangalore United were reeling against a disciplined bowling attack of Rockstars and its score board read a dismal 103 for 7. At the fall of sixth wicket UB Patel joined AS Brar when the score was exact 100. One run later UB Patel was dropped and he made use of the dropped catch by scoring 25 runs. Mangalore United finished with 145 for 7. UB Patel and RG More added 42 runs in an unfinished stand for the seventh wicket. V Mahesh reaped the harvest by captuing 3 wickets for 21 runs.

Rockstars could muster 129 in its allotted 20 overs. Madan Mohan and veteran C Raghu added 64 runs for the fifth wicket and raised a semblance of victory for Rockstars. Madan Mohan scored 38 while C Raghu scored 49. Rockstars batsman found Mitrakant Yadav too hot to handle, as the left arm spinner finished with 4 for 17. He earned the distinction of becoming the only bowler in the KPL to bag four wickets in an innnings on three occasions.

MRKPL-M25-Bellary Tuskers vs Hubli Tigers at Mysuru on 16.09.15 – Hubli Tigers won by three runs

Hubli Tigers posted 110 for 9 in 20.0 overs and defended the total to win by three runs. Skipper KR Kapoor’s 26 was the highest score in Hubli Tigers innings. Opening batsman KB Pawan {24} and CJ William {20} were the other two batsmen who scored 20 plus runs. CA Karthik bagged three wickets conceding 22 runs.

Disciplined bowling by Hubli Tigers bowlers ensured a win by three runs. S Kaushik was the only bowler to leak 30 plus runs {none for 30}. DT Patil was the top scorer for Bellary Tuskers.

With 30 wickets to his credit, R Vinay Kumar now holds the record for most wickets representing a single team in KPL. He went past UB Patel who had taken 29 wickets playing for a single team. R Vinay Kumar represents Belagavi Panthers while UB Patel represents Mangalore United.

Bijapur Bulls posted lowest total in KPL when they scored 118 for 8 in this game. Its previous lowest was 120 against Belagavi Panthers at Hubballi on 11.09.14

RV Uthappa became the third batsman to total 200 plus runs in KPL 2015. At the end of this game, his run aggregate read 202. Others are – SH Kirmani {332} and KB Pawan {237}. During Belagavi Panthers innings, AM Reddy {202} joined this list to become the fourth batsman.

R Jonathan’s first run in this game gave him a total of 700 runs in KPL. At the end of this game his total read 705. He became the third batsman in KPL to amass 700 plus runs. Others are – MA Agarwal {740} and B Chipli {724}

R Vinay Kumar’s 60 runs in this game provide the 115th occasion of a batsman scoring a fifty in KPL. It also provides the 20th occasion of captain scoring a fifty in KPL.

This win gave Belagavi Panthers its 17th win in KPL. They share the most wins record with Bijapur Bulls who also have 17 wins in KPL
