India is eager to win its third World Cup while Australia is eyeing its sixth World Cup win.  India has won the World Cup in 1983 and 2011, while Australia was victorious in the following 1987-88, 1999, 2002-03, 2007-08 and 2014-15 editions

Here are a few approaching milestones ahead of the WC 2023 final between India and Australia.

If they get the required wickets, they would become the third and fourth bowlers to capture 25 plus wickets in an edition of the World Cup. Others are – MA Starc {27 in 2019} and GD McGrath {26 in 2007]

RA Jadeja has captured 27 wickets as a left arm spinner in the World Cup. Three more wickets would fetch him 30 wickets and with it he would become the fourth left arm spinner to capture 30 plus wickets in the World Cup. Others are – Shakib Al Hasan {43}, DL Vettori {36} and GB Hogg {34}

RA Jadeja has captured 27 wickets as a spinner in the World Cup. Three more wickets would fetch him 30 wickets and with it he would become the ninth spinner to capture 30 plus wickets in the World Cup.

DA Warner has an aggregate of 1470 runs as an opening batsman in the World Cup and needs 30 more runs for his 1500 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the second opening batsman in the World Cup to aggregate 1500 plus runs. 

V Kohli has an aggregate of 1741 runs in the World Cup. Three more runs would fetch him 1744 runs and with it he would occupy the second place in the list of batsmen who have scored most runs in the World Cup. He would go past RT Ponting’s 1743 run aggregate to occupy the second place. SR Tendulkar with 2278 runs to his credit occupies the first place

Indian fieldsmen other then wicket keepers have pouched 296 catches in the World Cup. Four more catches by Indian fieldsmen would give them 300 catches. India would then become the third team in the World Cup to have 300 plus catches by its fieldsmen other than the wicket keepers. Australia {338} and New Zealand {328} are the other two teams to have 300 plus catches through their fieldsmen other than the wicket keepers.

V Kohli has pouched 19 catches in the World Cup. One more catch would fetch him 20 catches and with it he would become the third fieldsman other than the wicket keepers to pouch 20 plus catches in the World Cup. Others are – RT Ponting {28} and JE Root {25]
